The Gumnut Bakery is the culmination of a lot of hard work for Lauren Neilly, who has turned what started out as a hobby into a successful business.
Baking has always been a big part of Lauren's life: she was always in the kitchen with her mum making cakes when she was a child back in Australia. Some of her earliest childhood memories are of her mum making a special 'party cake' for her birthday each year.
Self taught at the outset, Lauren has spent time honing her craft with numerous specialist training courses throughout recent years and continues to do so in the pursuit of further cake craft knowledge.
The Gumnut Bakery takes it's naming inspiration from the Gumnut: the hard woody fruit which can be found on Eucalyptus trees, which are native to Australia and tie Lauren's business to her Australian heritage. They can be seen flowering in gardens and parks across Australia displaying beautiful red and yellow blossoms in the treetops which are a thing of beauty across the Australia.
